Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, who is mulling a third-party bid for the White House, got stuck when he was asked Wednesday how much a box of Cheerios cereal costs.
The question came as the last part of a rapid-fire trio of questions from “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC.
“How much does an 18-ounce box of Cheerios costs?” she asked.
Schultz couldn’t say. “I don’t eat Cheerios,” he repeated as Brzezinski and co-host and husband Joe Scarbarough laughed.
Scarbarough argued the question was fair, relating it to discussion about the budget of the Veterans Affairs Department. Brzezinski noted that an 18-ounce box of Cheerios would cost about $4.
Schultz, who bought the first Starbucks in Seattle in 1987, is estimated to have a net worth close to $3.5 billion. He announced on Sunday that he is “seriously considering” a 2020 presidential campaign as a “centrist independent.”
