Chris Christie is pro-life, and not just when it comes to abortion. His ‘Every Life’ ad started airing in New Hampshire on Thursday.
The short ad shows Christie speaking to the camera and at an event. It is interspersed with a woman who is undergoing an ultrasound and then a downtrodden young woman. The transcript reads:
Not only for the baby in the womb, we need to be pro-life for the 16 year old drug addict who’s laying on the floor of the county jail.
And so that’s why I so firmly believe that the way to really win the war on drugs is to treat the addict. For those whose lives we have a chance to save I want us to try and save those lives.
Because I believe that every one of those lives is a precious gift from God and it’s not up to us to decide when that life ends.
I’m Chris Christie and I approve this message.
The decision to air the ad in New Hampshire seems to be a tactical one. The state’s heroin problem has forced candidates to confront the issue during their campaign. New Hampshire also has the first primary, in February.
With this ad, Christie is able to take on a compassionate position and focus on two issues at once.
