A spokesman for former President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the 44th president is not affiliated with a robocall campaign that features his voice and solicits donations to “help President Obama block all repeal efforts by Donald Trump.”
“These pre-recorded calls were not authorized by President Barack Obama, have no connection to the former president, and have been reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities,” Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis, told CNN’s KFile. “We will continue to monitor for and report any misleading or fraudulent uses of the president’s image.”
CNN’s investigative team reported in February the robocalls from Progressive Priorities PAC using Obama’s voice.
The Progressive Priorities PAC reportedly has close ties to a pro-Trump political action group, Liberty Action Group.
