007 at the White House

Interviewing for the Supreme Court vacancy?      (ap photo)

You never know who will turn up in the White House driveway in these first months of the Obama administration — lately we’ve seen Ben Stiller, Usher, Gene Sperling, Calista and Harrison, among others.

This morning it was Pierce Brosnan, who came in through the northwest gate and headed into the West Wing. To a shouted question from the estimable Mark Knoller of CBS News asking what he’s doing here, Brosnan replied: “Whales!”

So enigmatic!

It’s not unheard of, though. Brosan and his wife, Keely Shay Smith, are spokespersons for the Save the Whales Again campaign.
