Al Gore Meets With Trump For a ‘Lengthy and Very Productive Session’

Former vice president Al Gore met with President-elect Donald Trump Monday at Trump Tower, according to the transition pool report. The former Tennessee senator and 2000 Democratic nominee for president was expected to meet with Trump’s daughter Ivanka, but Gore also says he spoke with Trump.

“I had a lengthy and very productive session with the president-elect,” said Gore, according to the pool report. “It was a sincere search for areas of common ground. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the president-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.”

Gore, like 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, won the popular vote when he ran for president but lost the Electoral College. Since his defeat, Gore has been actively campaigning for government intervention to stop global warming and climate change. The 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which won an Academy Award, starred the former vice president giving a lecture about global warming.
