ORLANDO, Fla. — Newt Gingrich raised $5 million in January and revised up his fundraising totals for the fouth quarter of 2011 by $1 million, up to $10 million, his campaign said Tuesday.
Gingrich’s totals for the most recent fundraising period, which spanned October and December, are 10 times what he raised in the third quarter of 2011. But his fundraising still trails two of his opponents, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
Romney brought in $24 million during the October-December period and Paul raised $13 million.
Gingrich is running low on cash heading into Tuesday’s Florida primary after 10 days of nonstop campaigning in the Sunshine State. But Gingrich vows to continue his fight for the nomination all the way to the party’s national convention in August.
