1st and Goal: Redskins honor breast cancer survivors

Thursday marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Washington Redskins got things started early by hosting their second annual All Star Survivors luncheon at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va.

In attendance Tuesday among the local breast cancer survivors was Tanya Snyder, wife of Redskins owner Dan Snyder, along with players that included tight end Chris Cooley and offensive guard Derrick Dockery. The luncheon honored the survivors, who then got some extra special attention.

“I’m really excited with the way events turned out today,” Cooley said after the luncheon. “… I thought just a day where they can try on wigs and get jeans and do kind of a fun thing would be great for them, and it turned out really well.”

Team members will continue their campaign by wearing something pink during Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay.
