If you’re feeling particularly uninspired with your pranks this April Fool’s Day, these five movie pranks will have you spinning your wheels in no time. From kitty litter to honey to lizards, these movie-based pranks cost next to nothing to recreate and are highly effective. (Disclaimer: Not all of them are legal.)
1. “Parent Trap”
The 1998 remake is chock full of classic pranks, but in this specific scene twins Hallie and Annie (both played by pre-breakdown Lindsay Lohan) decide to have fun with their soon-to-be step-mother Meredith’s on the family’s annual camping trip by placing a lizard on Meredith’s head.
2. “Heavy Weights”
The movie “Heavy Weights” takes place at a “fat camp” where a group of boys come every year to lose weight (but don’t) — until the evil Tony Perkis (Ben Stiller) takes over and actually tries to whip them into shape. The campers plot to take back the camp by tying their counselors to trees. In this scene, the boys gang up on one counselor in particular who terrorized them all summer – Lars – by ripping open his shirt, spreading honey across his chest and telling him to watch out for the bears.
3. “Little Rascals”
In the 1994 remake, the main character, Alfalfa, is a member of the “He Man Woman Hating Club.” When his fellow cohorts find out he’s consorting with a girl, Darla, they feel betrayed and enact their revenge by shoveling kitty litter into the sandwiches Alfalfa serves to Darla at a picnic.
4. “Animal House”
“Animal House” is arguably one of the best comedies in history about Greek life on campus. During this scene, one of the Delta pledges, Flounder, is tasked with stealing a horse belonging to a kid who has tormented him all semester and placing it in the dean’s office. Luckily, Flounder gets backup from his fellow fraternity brothers including Bluto played by the late John Belushi.
5. “Mean Girls“
We started with a LiLo movie, so we might as well end with one. The entire premise of the film — in case you are the only person in the English speaking world who hasn’t seen it — is to ruin queen bee Regina George’s (Rachel McAdams) life. In this scene, Janice Ian steals Regina’s wifebeater from her locker and cuts huge holes into it so the student body can see her purple bra. Unfortunately, this plan backfires and Regina ends up setting a new trend.
