The president of the world’s largest evangelical Christian university is expressing support for Donald Trump’s vow to protect the gay community from abuse and violence. Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. says he agrees “100 percent” with the GOP presidential candidate’s view that every life should be protected, regardless of its sexual orientation.
In an interview with the Washington Examiner following Trump’s convention speech, the son of the late Rev. Jerry Falwell expressed that gays in a nightclub deserve just as much protection as a congregation at a Baptist church.
“We all deserve, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness,” said Falwell. “That means every life is valuable and every life must be protected. I think that’s what Donald Trump was saying and I support him 100 percent.”
Falwell endorsed the New York billionaire just before the Iowa Caucus and addressed the Republican Convention prior to Trump’s speech Thursday.
