Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich debuts in Friday’s edition of The Examiner as a weekly political commentator, writing a broadly focused column on national and international politics, public figures and current issues.
“Mention Newt Gingrich and people instantly think of the Contract with America in 1994 that propelled the Republican Party to gain majorities in the House and Senate for the first time in 40 years,” said Ryan McKibben, president of Clarity Media, which publishes the Examiner.
“That history alone makes him one of the crucial figures of modern American politics, but he’s also one of a rare breed – the genuinely original and creative thinkers about politics and public policy,” McKibben said.
Gingrich is also a Fox News political analyst, a best-selling historian and author, a much-sought-after speaker, and a successful businessman. He is also active in the think tank world, serving as founder of the Center for Health Transformation, chairman of American Solutions, and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
“I am excited and pleased to be joining The Examiner, which is among the bright new stars of American journalism,” Gingrich said. “This is one of the most unique and crucial eras in our nation’s history and to know what’s going on, you have to be reading this newspaper.”
Gingrich’s column will appear on Fridays in both the print and online editions of The Washington Examiner and the San Francisco Examiner.
