Trump: ‘Drain the swamp’ is corny

Donald Trump said Friday that he’s not a fan of his new mantra, “drain the swamp,” regarding his plans to reform Washington, as president.

Trump told an Ohio crowd he opposed the slogan initially, but then he compared his decision to keep it to Frank Sinatra’s decision to keep singing the hit song “My Way” more than 40 years ago.

“Isn’t it amazing how this phrase has caught on? I didn’t like it, I thought it was corny,” Trump told the crowd about ‘drain the swamp.’ “I thought it was really sort of a corny phrase, I didn’t like it.”

He added, “But Frank Sinatra didn’t like “My Way.” He didn’t like it — ’til he sang it. The audience went crazy. He sang it again. Became No. 1, all of a sudden he liked it very much.”

After leaving Ohio, Trump will campaign in Pennsylvania Friday night with less than four days until Election Day.
