Get ready for Jazz in the ‘Hoods

Beginning next month, you won’t be able to throw a rock in the District and not hit a jazz musician … not that we recommend that.

The 2011 DC Jazz Festival kicks off June 1 and features the Jazz in the ‘Hoods series, with more than 80 performances at 41 museums, clubs, restaurants, hotels, and galleries across the city, showcasing over 70 D.C.-based jazz groups. The festival is again partnering with the Washington Convention and Sports Authority to put on the series.

Performances are a mix of free and ticketed and are planned for almost every D.C. neighborhood, including Adams Morgan, Capitol Hill, Downtown, Dupont Circle, Chinatown, Foggy Bottom, the H Street Corridor, Georgetown, Southeast, Southwest, Takoma Park, the U Street Corridor and Woodley Park.

The festival runs through June 13.
