Pence: Powell abandons GOP three elections in a row

Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence was not phased when Colin Powell, the former secretary of State under George W. Bush, endorsed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on Tuesday.

The Indiana governor said it’s not the first time he and Powell have disagreed on who to support for president – a reference to Powell’s voting for President Obama in 2008 and again in 2012.

“Look, I honor his service to the country in uniform. I honor his service as secretary of state,” Pence told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on Tuesday. “But if memory serves, he supported Barack Obama eight years ago. I’m not sure it’s particularly newsworthy that he’s supporting another Democrat for the White House – even after eight years. But he’s entitled to his opinion.”

Trump currently trails Clinton by more than 5 points, according to a mid-October average by Real Clear Politics.
