Three die in fatal crash

Prince George’s County police are investigating a Sunday crash that killed three people.

At about 3:15 a.m., a black GMC Yukon, traveling northbound on Indian Head Highway, hit a northbound  grey Mazda 3, just prior to Wilson Bridge Drive. The Mazda went off the road and struck a tree.

The driver of the Mazda, Eugene Johnson, 53, of Manassas, as well as the car’s two passengers, Gwendolyn Demby, 52, of Manassas and another unidentified adult female, died as a result.

A fourth passenger was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries and is expected to survive, police said.

The driver and passenger of the Yukon were suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police. The driver was taken into custody and charges are pending; it appeared speed was also a contributing factor in the incident, police said.
