White House Twitter accounts switch over to Donald, Melania Trump

Shortly after President Trump took the oath of office on Friday, the official White House @POTUS handle changed has to the new commander in chief.

The site now features a photo of Trump and the bio said he is “working on behalf of the American people to make our country great again.”

All of the messages from the outgoing Obama administration over the past eight years had been deleted and Trump had not tweeted yet.

As Trump finished his inaugural address, the @POTUS handle had 3.63 million followers. Trump’s personal handle, @realdonaldtrump, has more than 20 million.

Other White House Twitter accounts were also in the hands of the new administration. Melania Trump had control of the @FLOTUS account for the first lady with about 7,500 followers.
