The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore has reached an agreement with Evergreen Shipping Co., one of the port?s major customers, for a new 10-year contract, Gov. Martin O?Malley announced Tuesday.
The new contract will be officially signed Wednesday at an event at the Seagirt Marine Terminal. It will guarantee the transport of 40,000 loaded containers to and from the port annually, O?Malley?s office said in a release.
Taiwan-based Evergreen is the Port?s second-longest serving customer, its second-highest revenue producer, and its only shipping line that provides direct service to Asia.
