Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Tuesday refused to take sides in a public feud between President Trump, the man who appointed her, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, her husband.
“I stand by my man, both of them,” Chao told reporters at Trump Tower.
McConnell, R-Ky., and Trump have been engaged in a verbal feud over recent days.
Trump has criticized McConnell for the GOP’s failure to pass a health care bill and suggested he may encourage him to resign if Republicans do not make progress on their agenda.
McConnell last week said Trump’s “excessive expectations” and unrealistic timelines have hindered Republicans in Congress.
