Marine Corps commandant pushes for defense bill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The commandant of the Marine Corps is appealing to House and Senate leaders to complete a defense policy bill before the end of the year, calling it a national security imperative.

Gen. James Amos sent a letter to Republican and Democratic leaders similar to the plea from Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
