Globalization is a force that Sen. Lindsey Graham says he is incapable of stopping.
During a town hall event Saturday in Charleston, S.C., Graham talked about convincing corporations to keep jobs in the United States as much as possible.
“I can’t stop globalization,” he said, adding, “we just need to make it as best as possible for people to stay in America.”
The statement stands in contrast to President Trump’s position that the U.S. should re-evaluate its embrace of globalization. He has already abandoned his predecessor’s signature trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
The Republican also knocked Trump’s border wall with Mexico.
Graham said the idea to build the wall “is not a good investment,” though he is interested in boosting border security in other ways.
