WHO: The Department of Homeland Security
WHAT: Allocated $1.5 million dollars in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds for Montana’s Whitetail port of entry into Canada, part of a $23 million Montana border project.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The crossing sees an average of only five travelers a day. The Canadian side of the border crossing is closing, so it will be a one-way street. With $1.5 million already spent on Whitetail, the project has stalled indefinitely. Meanwhile, we’ve heard there are some border problems to the south that might need addressing.
