RNC video: Biden was Dems’ last hope

Now that Vice President Joe Biden has decided to forego running for president, the Republican National Committee is asking Democrats, “What now?”

With Biden out, Democrats “last hope is gone,” claims a video released Wednesday by the RNC.

According to the RNC, the vice president was the only candidate capable of saving Democrats from nominating Hillary Clinton. The former first lady has been plagued by a handful of issues since launching her second presidential bid, including declining favorability ratings and a federal investigation into her sharing of classified information from the private email server she kept as secretary of state.

“Democrats’ backup? Joe Biden,” the video asks as soundbites of pundits addressing Clinton’s woes play onscreen.

Earlier Wednesday, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus described Biden’s decision as “a major blow for Democrats, who now will almost certainly be saddled with their unpopular and scandal plagued front-runner Hillary Clinton.”

“Vice President Biden was the most formidable general election candidate the Democrat Party could have fielded, and his decision not to challenge Hillary Clinton greatly improves our chances of taking back the White House,” Priebus said.
