Trump: ‘Nobody knows for sure’ if Congress can make a deal on DACA

President Trump said Tuesday that the White House and congressional Republicans will try to find a resolution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in the next two and a half weeks, but stopped short of promising action on a bill.

“Nobody knows for sure that the Republicans & Democrats will be able to reach a deal on DACA by February 8, but everyone will be trying….with a big additional focus put on Military Strength and Border Security. The Dems have just learned that a Shutdown is not the answer!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.

The government reopened Tuesday after a three-day shutdown. However, the deal lawmakers reached will only fund the government through Feb. 8.

As part of the agreement, Republicans promised Democrats to seriously consider action on DACA in the next two weeks though the program is not slated to conclude until March 5.
