Wyoming’s 2nd Olympian misses medal in rowing

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Brett Newlin, of Riverton, just missed earning a medal at the London Olympics.

Newlin is a member of the U.S. eight-man rowing team.

In the finals on Wednesday, the U.S. team placed fourth. Germany won the gold, Canada the silver and Britain bronze.

The U.S. team finished the race in 5 minutes, 51.48 seconds. Britain edged out the U.S. for bronze with a time of 5 minutes, 51.18 seconds.

Wyoming has no more athletes left in the Olympics. Archer Jennifer Nichols, of Cheyenne, was eliminated on Tuesday.
