Jimmy Fallon began his opening monologue Thursday night on “The Tonight Show” by commenting on Mia Love, who became the first black Republican woman elected to Congress Tuesday after the midterm election.
“She is also a Mormon,” Fallon said of Love. “A black, female, Republican Mormon. Even unicorns are like, ‘Not buying it.'”
Fallon also labeled Love’s election “great news for the state’s African American community, [NBA team] the Utah Jazz.”
His opening monologue also featured jokes about Chris Christie, Pippa Middleton, and 3D-printed liver tissue.
Later on during the show, Fallon once again broached the topic of the midterm election when he played “Hashtags.”
Thursday’s hashtag, #IfIWasInCharge, was inspired by the election.
There were several hilarious responses, the best of which might just be this one:
@jimmyfallon politicians would have to only wear a thong until they pass a reasonable budget #IfIWasInCharge
