Sisters killed in crash

Two sisters died early Monday when the car one of them was driving struck a concrete lane divider as it was turning onto a Route 29 ramp in Fairfax County. Police said speed might have been a partial factor in the crash that killed 25-year-old Victoria Stefan and her 22-year-old sister, Elizabeth Stefan of Fairfax. The elder sister was driving on West Ox Road near the intersection of Lee Highway when she tried to turn onto the Route 29 ramp and struck a jersey barrier head on.

Man fires flare in hospital

A man who fired a flare gun inside the emergency room at Prince George’s Hospital Center on Sunday night was arrested Monday morning, police said. Shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, the man came in with his wife to the emergency room, and for some reason a dispute occurred. The man pulled out a flare gun and fired into the ceiling, said spokesman Officer Henry Tippett. Police arrested the Capitol Heights man at about 7 a.m. Sunday after they saw his van at a gas station near Marlboro Pike and Silver Hill Road in District Heights.
