Actor Jon Voight, who has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign since March, on Tuesday said the GOP nominee’s honesty makes him the most qualified candidate for the White House.
“I know him a little bit. We all know him. There are no secrets with what he thinks,” Voight told the Winston-Salem Journal. “He says what he thinks. He’s a very honest man.”
The Oscar winner was in Clemmons, N.C., to help christen the new state central office for the Great America PAC, a Trump-supporting group that has raised more than $12 million for the New York businessman’s campaign.

According to the Journal, Voight said “many things have been damaged over the past eight years,” referring to President Obama’s time in office.
Voight said that damage included a looser connection with consitutional values, a weaker military, a poorer economy and a lower status on the world stage. He thinks Trump can reverse this sinking ship.
“He’s very bright — obviously very successful. But what he does is he solves problems. That’s what he does,” Voight said.
The “National Treasure” star’s opinion of Trump vastly differs from that of his daughter, fellow Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, who criticized Trump in May for his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
