Alec Baldwin was back as President Trump this week in the “Saturday Night Live” cold open, this time attempting to inspire and lead U.S. Army troops in a hopeless fight against an invading alien force in the year 2018. It didn’t go well.
After one of the soldiers, played by Kenan Thompson, gave a rousing speech to his troops, he introduced Baldwin, who wore a similar military jacket to the one that Trump wore earlier this month while for a speech aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford.
After remarking about how it was such a beautiful day, Baldwin said: “We are going to beat these aliens because we’ve got the best military, but we don’t win anymore.”
“The aliens are laughing at us and they’re killing us. Mr. President! We have to do something!”

Thompson informed the president that the aliens had just vaporized the entire state of California.
“Then I won the popular vote?” Baldwin asked, a reference to Trump’s nearly 2.9 million vote deficit in the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, thanks to population-dense blue states like California. He won the Electoral College.
“Sir, please, everyone in California is dead,” Thompson said.
“Even Arnold?”, Baldwin asked hopefully, referring to actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Told that this lethal alien species is from a planet called Zorblat-9, Baldwin said, “I’ve actually heard that Zorblat-9 is beautiful. Very fantastic.”
“My God, does he have business ties on Zorblat-9?”, one of the soldiers remarked, a thinly veiled swipe against Trump and concerns he may have various business conflicts of interest.
Baldwin was then informed that Trump Hotel in New York City was destroyed, causing $50 million in damage.
“More like a billion dollars,” Baldwin quipped.
“Well luckily no lives were lost because no one was staying at the hotel,” said a soldier.

After Baldwin dove into how he heard that aliens have been hiding in the U.S. for hundreds of years — “It’s a fact,” he said — the aliens breached the base.

“Humans, resistance is futile. Take me to your leader,” the head alien said.
Baldwin caved under pressure and pointed to Thompson.
“He’s the president,” Baldwin said.
