President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns on Friday during an intimate ceremony that lasted mere minutes.
“It is going to be a very humbling and moving day for the president-elect, his family and mine,” Pence told reporters earlier Thursday. “We are ready to go to work. In fact, we can’t wait to get to work for the American people.”
The intimate ceremony at Arlington National Ceremony was closed to the public, though Trump was joined by his wife Melania, five children and grandchildren. The president-elect declined to deliver remarks before or after the ceremony.
Pence and Trump are expected to attend a welcome concert at the Lincoln Memorial Thursday evening. The concert will be their last public event before they are each sworn into office at the capitol on Friday.
