Rained out residents will have a second chance to vote

Blame it on the rain.

The Hickory Ridge Village Board election, which took place during the weekend, will be validated during a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. May 1 at the Hawthorn Center, 6175 Sunny Spring Road, Columbia.

Joan Lancos, village special events coordinator, said 213 votes were cast, 120 votes short of the quorum, most likely due to “bad weather.”

Polls will open briefly so residents who didn?t vote Saturday will have another opportunity, said Lancos.

Eight villages held elections during the weekend for board members who guide the day-to-day operations of the communities. Town Center will hold its election for Village Board and the Columbia Association on April 29.
