BRIGHT BULB
It’s all happening at the fair. Maryland’s annual state fair starts Friday at the Timonium fairgrounds and officials expect at least the average attendance of 450,000 despite a down economy and new admission price of $8. Let’s push attendance up. Considering what everything else costs, the fair is a bargain and it’s a short drive from everywhere. Click here for a link to fair activities.
OUTRAGE
- WhO: Baltimore police and Sheila Dixon
- What: The recent coverage of Baltimore’s prostitution problems and the death of the police commissioner’s stepdaughter spurred Dixon and the police to action. Suddenly they’re calling the investigation into prostitution and recent prostitute deaths a high priority. How strange.
- Why they are doing it: Negative media coverage leads to voter outrage, it’s as simple as that.
- Why it’s a bad idea: The bad thing is that this wasn’t considered a high priority until the media brought it up. Prostitutes allowed The Examiner to publish their names and photographs because they were so unafraid of prosecution. Need we say that prostitution is a crime? Why weren’t these women already off the streets, detoxed and sent home?
