Under Armour: Data security breach affected 150M MyFitnessPal users

Under Armour announced Thursday that a data security breach impacted 150 million users of the company’s MyFitnessPal nutrition tracker.

According to a press release from the Baltimore-based athletic apparel company, the breach did not extend to government-issued identifiers, including Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers, as the company does not collect that data. The compromised data also did not include payment data, the company said.

The Baltimore Sun reports that a person familiar with the situation said Under Armour learned of the security breach four days ago and that it includes usernames, email addresses, and passwords.

The company said it is investigating the breach and is asking its app users to immediately change their passwords.

Shares of the company dropped 3.8 percent, before paring losses, after it notified users of the data breach, according to CNBC.
