CHICAGO (AP) — Police say a 35-year-old Chicago man has been charged in the stabbing deaths of his girlfriend and his 7-year-old daughter.

Police say Maciej Kotlinski (mah-SEE’-ay koht-LIN’-skee) faces two counts of first-degree murder in connection with Sunday morning’s slayings. Police say they were called when Kotlinski showed up at a family member’s Waukegan home with only one of his daughters and exhibited suicidal behavior. Waukegan police say he told them he had “harmed his family.”
