Palin announces daughter is pregnant

The McCain campaign has announced that the 17-year-old daughter of new vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin is five months  pregnant and soon to marry the father of the child.

Republicans say that Reuters was following up the work of liberal bloggers who were alleging that the newborn son of the governor was really born to her daughter, Bristol, as part of a vast conspiracy to conceal a teen mother.

But when the news service came asking, the campaign came clean and told the tale of Salem Palin’s delicate condition. McCain reportedly know about the pregnancy when Gov. Palin was picked.

The initial reaction among Republicans here — dropped jaws.
