Trump: Cruz is ‘very weak on immigration’

Donald Trump on Monday continued to hammer away at his closest rival, Sen. Ted Cruz, by accusing him of flip-flopping on immigration.

“If you look at Ted Cruz, he was very weak on immigration, and now all of a sudden he’s saying we have to build a wall,” Trump said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“Here’s another guy who can’t a deal done,” Trump added, arguing Cruz’s inability to work with his Senate colleagues would mean he would have to impose executive actions just as President Obama has.

Trump also railed against former Gov. Martin O’Malley following the Democratic debate Sunday evening.

“He’s a joke,” the real estate mogul said of the low-polling Democratic presidential candidate. “He’s always invoking my name.”

Trump blasted the Democrats’ focus on climate change as a key issue in this election cycle.

“Well, I think that climate change is just a very, very expensive form of tax,” he said. “This is done for the benefit of China, because China doesn’t do anything to help climate change.”

Trump noted that he had “received many environmental awards.”

The GOP front-runner has ratcheted up attacks on his opponents as the Iowa caucuses approach and as Cruz has increased his popularity among Iowa voters, threatening Trump’s lead in the Hawkeye State. Cruz leads in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings, Trump is second.
