New Clinton ad labels Trump ‘America’s Bully’

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign unveiled a new TV ad on Monday titled, “America’s Bully” that spotlights Donald Trump’s “bluster and bigotry.”

The ad juxtaposes clips from popular films depicting children bullying one another with Trump’s words before showing Clinton interacting with a young girl on the campaign trail. The girl explains that she’s heard people talking behind her back because she has asthma and asking Clinton what she will do about “people who want to be mean.”

“I really do think we need more love and kindness in our country,” Clinton is shown saying. “That’s why it’s important to stand up to bullies wherever they are and why we shouldn’t let anybody bully his way into the presidency because that is not who we are as Americans.”

But Clinton herself has previously used insults to identify Trump’s supporters.

“You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton said in September. “Now, some of those folks — they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America.”

Clinton later expressed “regret” about her comments and said they were wrong.

Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” remark and Trump’s name-calling could be raised during the third and final presidential debate on Wednesday when moderator Chris Wallace is expected to include the candidates “fitness to be president” as one of the main topics.
