Trump’s new lawyers won’t join his legal team after all

The two new lawyers hired by President Trump represent him in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election will not be joining the team.

Multiple reports Sunday morning indicated Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing will not be joining Trump’s team due to legal conflicts.

The husband-and-wife legal team run a small firm that represents people who have spoken with Mueller’s investigators, according to previous media reports. They met with Trump on Thursday for the first time and reports after that meeting indicated they were unsure of whether they would actually join the team.

Jay Sekulow, one of Trump’s attorneys, announced last week DiGenova and Toensing would be joining the team.

A representative for Trump’s legal team did not immediately return a request for comment Sunday morning.
