Rep. Matt Gaetz tore into impeachment witness Pamela Karlan after she took a shot at President Trump by referencing his 13-year-old son Barron.
“Now let me also suggest that when you invoke the president’s son’s name here. When you try to make a little joke out of referencing Barron Trump. That does not lend credibility to your argument,” the Florida Republican told the Stanford law professor during Wednesday’s House Judiciary impeachment hearings. “It makes you look mean. It makes it look like you’re attacking someone’s family, the minor child of the president of the United States.”
Karlan made an earlier attempt at humor when she said the president is not a king who could appoint his son to be a baron.
First lady Melania Trump herself responded to Karlan, tweeting, “A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”
