Cruz weighs in after Caitlyn Jenner uses Trump’s bathroom

Ted Cruz has responded to an attack from Caitlyn Jenner, who used a women’s restroom in Trump Tower and tweeted at the Texas senator that “nobody got molested.”

“What I say is very simple. If you pass a law, as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and Barack Obama want, that says any adult man can go into — a girl’s restroom if he feels like a woman at that minute, listen, the real danger is not people who are transgendered. It’s people who are predators,” Cruz told NBC’s Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd in a pre-taped interview that will air Sunday.

The Republican presidential candidate has repeatedly voiced support for a recently enacted law in North Carolina that maintains people must use the public restroom for the sex they were deemed at birth.

“Now, I view this issue as a matter of basic common sense. I don’t think it’s a right or left or Republican or Democratic issue,” Cruz added. “Listen, I’m the dad of two little girls. It doesn’t make any sense to allow grown adult men, strangers, to be alone in a bathroom with a little girl. People who are predators who use that law as an excuse to go target our kids.”

The Texas senator criticized Trump’s initial invitation of Jenner to use the restroom inside his Manhattan skyscraper, calling it “political correct nonsense” that he is fine with this policy, but is a conservative.

“People want someone who tells the truth. Donald is playing a role and pretending to be something he’s not,” Cruz finished.
