Baltimore County police have detained a man in connection with the homicide of a Woodlawn woman Monday evening.
Satya Duana Long, 39, was found dead in her home on Cedar Heights Court at 10:35 p.m., police said.
County police first learned of the crime from the Baltimore City Police Department, which received a report of a possible homicide at the victim?s address.
Baltimore police said they had been notified by the suspect?s family after he went to his mother?s home and told her he had just killed his girlfriend.
While Baltimore County officers were on the way to Cedar Heights Court to check on the report, a family member of the suspect flagged down a city patrol officer in the area of Park Heights and Belvedere avenues.
The officer immediately detained the suspect, who was nearby, police said.
When county officers arrived at the victim?s address, they had to force their way into the home.
Once inside police found Long dead of multiple stab wounds. The suspect was turned over to county police for questioning. Charges in the killing are pending.
Detectives said they believe the killing is domestic related; they are trying to confirm the relationship between the two.
The killing marks the 24th homicide in Baltimore County this year. Police have solved 17 of those cases.
