American Idol” finalist Elliot Yamin joined his home congressman, Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., Wednesday on the Hill to discuss juvenile diabetes.

Yamin looked fresh in his suit equipped with black Chuck Taylor sneakers.

Yamin, who was diagnosed at age 16 with type 1 diabetes, was stumping for reauthorization of $200 million in diabetes funding research. Cantor said that “without congressional funding, juvenile diabetes research will evaporate.”

Also on hand was Ned Schutt, a 7-year-old from Cantor’s district who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes five years ago.
