Real Madrid has been to Washington, as has Chelsea and AC Milan. But this summer, Washington will get both Manchester United and Barcelona together when the two massive clubs face off against one another at FedEx Field on July 30 at 7 p.m.
The match will close out a four-stop preseason tour for Manchester United, which will also play New England at Gillette Field (7/13, 8 p.m.), Seattle at Qwest Field (7/20, 10 p.m.), Chicago at Soldier Field (7/23, 8 p.m.) and the MLS all-stars at Red Bull Arena outside New York (7/27, 8:30 p.m.).
Tickets to the match are also included in D.C. United’s season-ticket package as Special Game C – the third of three international matches, with Ajax (May 22) and Everton (July 23) both already slated to face D.C. later this season.
This will be the biggest event of the summer at FedEx Field. Will it be the only one? Who knows when football might be played there again…
