Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing porn star Stormy Daniels, shot back at President Trump on Saturday, saying “there is no question” that his personal attorney Michael Cohen will turn on him.
During an interview on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Avenatti claimed to possess “a lot of inside knowledge” and said Cohen has been forced to cooperate with federal investigators investigating him for possible bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations.
“We have the president’s right hand attorney who knows where probably all or nearly all of the bodies have been buried over the last 10 to 20 years relating to various business dealings, hush agreements and the like,” Avenatti said. “He is in the cross-hairs, no question he is going to be charged eventually with some very, very serious crimes and I think there is no question that in an effort to save himself and his family and a lot of heartache, he is going to turn on the president.”
Reports this week have said Cohen is on the verge of “flipping” on Trump after the FBI raided Cohen’s hotel room and office earlier this month and raises the possibility that Cohen will face criminal charges from federal prosecutors.
Responding to one New York Times article, Trump denied that Cohen will “flip” in a flurry of tweets.
Of the documents secured documents by FBI agents were those concerning the $130,000 payment he made to Stormy Daniels, with whom he signed a nondisclosure agreement in 2016 about her alleged extramarital affair with Trump a decade ago. The porn star, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing Cohen for defamation and is fighting back against the NDA because Trump never signed it.
