A grandmother received hundreds of stitches after she was mauled by a shark on Monday in the waters of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Karen Sites was wading waist-deep in the ocean when she felt a pair of jaws sink into her arm, according to a report.

“I just felt something, I guess, bite me, and there was a shark on my arm,” Sites said.
Her 8-year-old grandson Brian was just 10 feet away and witnessed the whole incident.

“I couldn’t even see the shark coming up, but all I saw was the shark jumped up, and it didn’t even bite all the way. Like, I saw the movement of the tail go to the side, and then she screamed a little bit, and as soon as she touched it, it fell into the water,” he said.
Sites was rushed to a hospital and immediately taken to surgery, the report noted.
The grandmother received hundreds of stitches.
Sites is now recovering and said this incident will not deter her from visiting the ocean in the future.

Her grandson has other ideas, saying, “I’ll sit on the sand, but I ain’t going in the water.”
Sites was attacked a day after another person reported a glancing bite to the leg in the same area, the report noted.
