CYCLING

Aug. 21: Tour de Lions, Ashland, Va., 7 a.m. Cyclists can choose distances from 75, 50, 25, or 12 miles. The ride, complete with bike support and rest stops, is a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network. Info: helpmakemiracles.org.

GOLF

Aug. 23 to 27: Senior Amateur Championship, Country Club of Virginia, Richmond. Golfers will play 36 holes of stroke play to qualify for the 32 spots moving onto the championship. Entry deadline is Aug. 9. Info: vsga.org.

IN-LINE SKATING

Aug. 14: BWI loop skate, Linthicum, 2 p.m. This is a free, 10-mile skate on the BWI Loop Trail. Info: skatedc.org.

Aug. 14: Free skate clinic, Rock Creek Park, 12:15 p.m. Washington Area Roadskaters instructors teach beginning and intermediate skills and useful stopping techniques. Lessons include a short skate in Rock Creek Park, where they review the “rules of the road.” Info: skatedc.org.

RUNNING

Aug. 14: DCRRC Cross Country 3-mile, Bethesda, 5:30 p.m. Runners will follow a multiple-loop course around the perimeter of the Landon School. Info: dcroadrunners.org

Aug. 14: Blue Crab Bolt 10k Trail Running Series, Clarksburg, 9 a.m. This is the second of the three-race 10k trail-running series hosted by EX2 Adventures. The race will be in Little Bennett Regional Park and takes runners through hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields and minimal pavement. Info: ex2adventures.com.

TRACK & FIELD

Aug. 13: Going Green Track Meet, Bethesda, 7:30 p.m. The Montgomery County Road Runners Club is holding this track meet at Walt Whitman High School. Events include a 1-mile race, 2-mile race and a 4-by-400-meter relay. Info: mcrrc.org.

TRIATHLON

Aug. 15: Luray Sprint Triathlon, Luray, 8 a.m. Competitors will swim a 750-meter loop in Lake Arrowhead, followed by a 16.5-mile bike and a 5k run on rolling hills in the Shenandoah Valley. Note: The Olympic-distance triathlon Aug. 14 is sold out. Info: setupevents.com.
