New cargo warehouse opening at Lansing airport

DEWITT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A new cargo warehouse is opening at Capital Region International Airport near Lansing.

The Lansing State Journal reports (http://on.lsj.com/V3vWD6 ) the 48,000-square-foot warehouse in Clinton County’s DeWitt Township is the first phase of development of the 110-acre Port Lansing Global Logistics Centre. The project aims to make Lansing a Midwest hub for international commerce.

A grand opening event for the warehouse is this week. Officials hope the warehouse will spur $20 million in private development on the rest of the land.

More than $27 million has been invested in airport infrastructure upgrades since 2005.
