Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney on Tuesday slammed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for voting twice in the last week to shut down the government, a move she once said was used only by “legislative arsonists.”
“I love the fact that Ms. Pelosi has now voted to shut the government down twice after accusing me of being an arsonist,” Mulvaney said on CNN.

In 2013, after Mulvaney voted against a bill to reopen the government, Pelosi slammed him and other House Republicans for failing to meet their basic responsibilities as lawmakers. She said lawmakers voting with Mulvaney were “legislative arsonists.”
But Pelosi voted against a bill last Thursday and on Monday to reopen the government. Mulvaney said there’s no doubt Democrats this time around were playing politics to make President Trump look bad, a plan that backfired.
“I don’t think she objected to what was in the bill, she objected to what was not in the bill,” Mulvaney said, noting the Democrats’ push to get immigration language in the bill. “The bottom line is that folks voted against a bill they liked to shut the government down.
Pelosi was furious when Mulvaney was confirmed to lead the Trump administration’s OMB, and said his support for a shutdown should have disqualified him.
“Congressman Mick Mulvaney was a chief architect of the government shutdown in 2013,” she said last April. “He not only voted to shut down government but voted against ending the shutdown. He also voted to default on the full faith and credit of the United States.”
“He has been willing to hold our full faith and credit of the United States of America hostage to his radical agenda,” she said in February. “He is totally unsuited to be director of OMB.”
