Two Indonesian citizens pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to attempting to illegally export arms for the Indonesian military.
Last year, Reinhard Rusli, 34, and Helmi Soedirdja, 33, contacted undercover agents to acquire monocular night vision and holographic weapons sight devices which they said the Indonesian military would use, according to the men?s plea agreements.
The two men transmitted $2,950 from Indonesia to the United States to obtain the equipment, which contains military technology that cannot be exported without a license or written authorization from the State Department, prosecutors said.
