A history teacher was removed from a middle school in Ventura, California, after she made headlines for politically tinged commentary in front of students that apparently included a claim that Donald Trump is still president.
Ventura Unified School District officials said the educator, who has not been publicly identified, is no longer teaching at Anacapa Middle School but is still employed in the district, according to the Washington Post.
A spokesperson for the school district claimed the teacher expressed “deep remorse” for her behavior in the classroom. Superintendent Roger Rice said the district is working with staff to ensure such a diatribe does not happen again.
“The district does not condone the non-instructionally related discussion that occurred in the classroom,” Rice added.
NC TEACHER TOLD STUDENTS THEY WOULD BE HER ‘SLAVES’ IF NOT FOR THE CONSTITUTION
Sarah Silikula, a mother of one of the middle schoolers, said she told her son to record any remarks from the teacher that made him feel uncomfortable after informing her about the diatribe last month.
“And he got in the car and he was very upset. He announced, ‘I’m never getting vaccinated. I’m never getting any more shots of any kind. Did you know Trump’s still president?'” she recalled.
The teacher was then recorded via cellphone making comments about Hunter Biden, the government, and vaccines.
“People need to wake up and see the government has way too much power right now,” the teacher said at one point.
“If you have a baby in the hospital, they don’t want to give it back if you’re not vaccinated. This is a complete power control threat,” the teacher also said.
The teacher also said Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden whose financial dealings are under federal investigation, “was doing deals with China and Ukraine and all these places where he was funneling in money illegally.” The younger Biden has said he is “100% certain” he will be cleared of wrongdoing.
Silikula said she was not upset about the beliefs of the teacher, but rather the teacher choosing to use her platform in front of the classroom to talk about something that was not related to history.
“I trusted her to teach him the facts about history, and she went off on this rant like a preacher on a pulpit,” Silikula said.

The school has not released the name of the teacher, citing personnel reasons. An investigation into the video and the teacher’s behavior was conducted by the school.
