Biden to North Carolina: You must deny Trump

Vice President Joe Biden was in North Carolina Tuesday urging voters there to deny Donald Trump a win in the state, because without it Trump attaining 270 electoral votes will be a far more difficult feat.

A Clinton win in North Carolina, Biden said, would almost assure a Trump defeat.

“We win North Carolina, we win it all,” Biden said, according to an account in the Charlotte Observer. “We can’t take our eye of the ball … health care is on the ballot. National security is on the ballot.”

“A lot’s at stake,” Biden told the crowd. “Everything we’ve done in the last weight years – from the economy to social policy to environmental policy – can be turned around,” he warned.

He then made a couple of cracks at the expense of Donald Trump and other Republicans.

Trump and Republicans trying to maintain control of the Senate “don’t believe in global warming,” Biden said.

“I don’t think they believe there’s gravity,” he added.

Just one week before the election, North Carolina is a toss-up state with both candidates running neck-in-neck in late polls.

Biden and the Clinton camp are hoping to drive up early votes, which will continue through Saturday, but still face a challenge to turn out as many Democrats, including African-American voters, as 2012 levels.
