Trump: Pence plane accident ‘pretty close to grave, grave danger’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told supporters Thursday night that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is “fine” after his plane skidded off the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York City Thursday evening.

Toward the tail end of an event in Geneva, Ohio, Trump said that the GOP vice presidential nominee is “okay” after the accident, which he said was “pretty close to grave, grave danger.” However, he said he spoke to him and added that everyone is doing alright who was involved in the incident.

“He’s okay. Did you know he was in a big accident with a plane?” Trump asked the crowd. “The plane skidded off the runway and was pretty close to grave, grave danger.”

“But I just spoke to Mike Pence, and he’s fine. Everybody’s fine,” Trump said, adding again that “everybody’s fine.”

Pence’s plane skidded off the runway at the New York airport as he was landing following events in Nebraska and Iowa. Reporters who were on the plane with the campaign reported that no one was injured after the incident.

Trump also couldn’t help but mention how great of a pick Pence was to be his running mate.

“But what a great decision it was to get Mike Pence — what a great guy he is,” Trump said. “What a great job he’s doing.”
